I was very disappointed with the story on the front page of the Sept. 23 News. I found the article on the "Peace Center" an absolute insult to the more than 12,000 people injured and killed in the terrorist attacks. The Muslim fanatics we are dealing with are not interested in negotiations and could care less about sanctions. Their self-admitted goal of killing Americans is their only interest.
Nonmilitary response to these savages will only encourage more attacks and quite probably will greatly aid their recruitment rates.
I have always found it interesting how the "peace people" want to enjoy all the benefits of our great country, such as freedom of speech and the right to protest, but are unwilling to fight for these rights when their country calls.
Were the terrorists who wreaked this horrific, wanton destruction on our country cowards? They most certainly were. But at least they were willing to die for their cause. Too bad we can't say the same for the cowards hiding behind their peace platform. How many more innocent Americans have to be killed before they wake up? I want to add that I am an Army veteran of three tours in Vietnam, so I have walked the walk.
It's time for the country to adopt as its battle cry the heroic last words of Flight 93 passenger Todd Beamer: "Let's roll."
