CLASS ACTS

For his community work and service as a Boy Scout, Kevin R. Buggs will receive the rank of Eagle Scout.

It's the highest rank a youth Scout can obtain, and only 3 percent of Scouts nationwide receive this award.

Kevin, 16, of the Town of Tonawanda, is in this elite group because throughout his 10 years as a Scout, he has been concerned about others and has worked to help them. He has participated in and has organized food and clothing drives.

The senior at Canisius High School has been a Cub Scout den chief, working with younger Scouts. He's also an altar server and Eucharistic minister at St. Amelia Church in the Town of Tonawanda. Most recently, Kevin participated in a school program in Camden, N.J., where he worked with the poor for a week.

St. Amelia and Boy Scout Troop 202 will honor Kevin today for his accomplishments.

He plans to pursue a career in math education.
