W. Edward Howard, 86, a 1940s player/manager for the Batavia Clippers of the then PONY League and an official of the Doehler-Jarvis Corp., died Thursday (Sept. 27, 2001) in a Longview, Texas, hospital.
He had lived in Batavia for 50 years before moving to Texas seven years ago. At Doehler, he was the labor relations director.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; a daughter, Ann Miller of Longview; two sons, William of New Jersey and Robert of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Jean Howley of Massachusetts; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. today in St. Mary's Church, Longview. Burial will be in Rosewood Park Cemetery.
