MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ROBBING GAS STATION

An East High Street man pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree robbery for stealing a box of lottery tickets from a gas station.

Eric R. Gilland, 30, is to be sentenced Nov. 16 by County Judge Peter L. Broderick Sr.

Assistant District Attorney Lisa M. Wegrzyn said Gilland held up Van Dusen's Sunoco at East Avenue and Washburn Street on Aug. 3 and grabbed a box containing 200 lottery tickets.

In other cases Friday:

Adam J. Bruno, 28, of Walnut Avenue, Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty before Broderick to fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and will be sentenced Nov. 16.

Bruno was accused of selling tranquilizers and anti-anxiety drugs without a prescription on Niagara Falls streets in August 2000, and of selling cocaine to a police agent Nov. 2.

His mother, Druscilla A. Bruno, 56, was sentenced Sept. 14 to three months in jail followed by three years of probation for two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in connection with the sale of the psychiatric drugs.

Walter Ruffin, 19, of 10th Street, Niagara Falls, was sentenced to eight days in jail for disorderly conduct by Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza.

Ruffin was one of three men arrested in a Dec. 8 drug raid on 10th Street, but the original cocaine possession indictment against him was dismissed. He admitted to fighting with one of the raiding police officers.

The other two men arrested, Rashan Vincent and Philip L. Vincent, both of 10th Street, pleaded guilty to felony drug possession counts and are awaiting sentencing.

Two 18-year-olds from Ferry Avenue, Niagara Falls, pleaded not guilty at their arraignments before Broderick on identical eight-count indictments.

Daniel W. Pardee and Cody A. Rolfe are charged with three counts of third-degree arson, two counts of petit larceny and single counts of second- and third-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny.

They are accused of breaking into 1745 Cudaback Ave. on July 30 and setting it and two motorcycles on fire. With a co-defendant, John W. Rossman, Pardee and Rolfe are also charged with burglarizing a Welch Avenue woman's apartment Aug. 20.

Lorenzo D. Vasquez, 26, of East Avenue, pleaded guilty to a felony count of driving while intoxicated and was scheduled for sentencing by Broderick on Nov. 16. Vasquez was arrested May 18 in the City of Lockport.
