Bethany Anner, a Buffalo native and retail manager, died Monday (Sept. 24, 2001) in Milton, Del., after a brief illness. She was 51.
She was born in Buffalo and raised in West Seneca. She graduated from West Seneca High School and received a bachelor's degree from the State University at Oneonta. After graduation, she worked in department stores in New York City, the Washington, D.C., area and Delaware.
Anner, who was diagnosed with cancer in 1991, worked as a volunteer with cancer patients at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Del. She was also active with the Delaware Breast Cancer Association and Healing Legacy.
She enjoyed painting and writing poetry.
She is survived by her mother, Ruth Anner of Buffalo; four sisters, Gretchen of Toronto, Naomi Newman of London and Ann Thea Beck and Kathy Marriott, both of Buffalo; two brothers, Fred and Jonathan, both of Buffalo; and a friend and companion, Cathy Batson of Milton, Del.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 1475 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.
