Services for Wolcott J. "Jay" Humphrey III, 50, president and CEO of Pavilion State Bank, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in United Church of Warsaw, South Main and East Buffalo streets.
Humphrey died Wednesday (Sept. 26, 2001), apparently of a heart attack, in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.
A native of Warsaw, he had lived in Le Roy since 1983, 10 years after he went to work for Financial Institutions, Pavilion State Bank's parent company. He was named senior vice president and a member of the board of directors. He became president and CEO of Pavilion State Bank in 1981, expanding the bank to include several branches, including Batavia and LeRoy.
Last month he was elected chairman of Genesee Community College's board of trustees. He was one of the earliest members of the board of directors of the Genesee Community College Foundation, serving for two years as treasurer.
Humphrey had been a member of the board of directors of Genesee/Le Roy United Way, Greater Rochester United Way, Iroquois Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Livingston County Business Education Alliance and the Genesee County Business Education Alliance.
He was a board member and officer of the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce, which named him Geneseean of the Year in 2000.
Humphrey was long active as a member of the New York State Bankers Association and the Independent Bankers Association of New York State.
He also was a member of Stafford Country Club, the Batavia Club, Silver Lake Sportsman's Club and Sheards Game Preserve.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Ann Vanderheyden; a daughter, Janis of Le Roy; a son, Wolcott J. V of Le Roy; his father and stepmother, Wolcott J. Jr. and Patricia of Silver Lake; a sister, Page Vernon of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and four brothers, Peter of Warsaw, John of Le Roy, Thomas of Collierville, Tenn., and Mark of Jacksonville, Fla.
