Mildred B. Mahnke, 84, who once was a soloist for churches in Rochester, Lockport and Buffalo, died Wednesday (Sept. 26, 2001) in Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Care Center after a brief illness.
Born Mildred Banasik in Buffalo, she graduated from the University of Rochester with a bachelor's degree in music and from Eastman School of Music in Rochester with a performer's degree. She moved to Newfane from Buffalo in 1948.
She married Gordon G. Mahnke in 1960. He died in 1996.
Mrs. Mahnke also worked in the personnel department at Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors Corp. in Lockport for 12 years, retiring in 1963.
She was a member of Cheer Rebekah Lodge 588 and the Newfane Golden Agers. She also was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Lockport.
Surviving is a brother, Theodore Banasik of Hendersonville, N.C.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, 2670 Main St. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
