A Mass of Christian Burial for Julian V. "Lefty" Manon, a retired pipefitter, was offered today in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Niagara Falls. Prayers were said in Rhoney Funeral Home.
Entombment, with full military honors, was in Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum.
Manon, 82, died Wednesday (Sept. 26, 2001) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Niagara Falls, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attained the rank of first sergeant and served with the 5th Army Division.
Manon was employed as a pipefitter at Nabisco Shredded Wheat for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1977.
He participated in many state baseball and bowling tournaments. He also was a frequent visitor to Fort Erie Race Track.
His wife, Jessie Kotoski Manon, died in 1981.
He is survived by a son, Paul of Lewiston, and three grandchildren.
