ON THIS DAY -- In 1779, John Adams was named to negotiate the Revolutionary War's peace terms with Britain. . . . FOR THE KIDS -- Alliance for the Mentally Ill in Buffalo and Erie County is seeking donations for its "Christmas Is for Kids" project. Each year the alliance "adopts" all children and young people who are patients in Western New York Children's Psychiatric Center outpatient and day-treatment programs, as well as their brothers and sisters, to bring them a day filled with joy and excitement.

Gifts should be new items. Cash donations are used to buy identified gift needs. Volunteers are needed to help wrap presents and pick up and deliver gifts. For information, call Lynne Shuster at 839-0548 or Tom McNulty at 662-3922. . . .

DePasquale keeps the voting machine keys and, with the students' attorney present, tabulates the vote. . . .
