NIAGARA FALLS -- Police Superintendent Christopher J. Carlin will hold an information session Saturday to explain how to become a Niagara Falls police officer.

The session is scheduled to get under way at 11 a.m. in the Niagara Falls Community Center, Centre Avenue and 15th Street. For information, call 286-4430 or 286-4569.

New passport, gun permit services set

LOCKPORT -- Passport applications and photographs for passport and pistol permit applications may be made at three locations in Niagara County, starting Monday.

County Clerk Wayne F. Jagow said the passport applications, formerly available only in his office in the County Courthouse on Park Avenue and Hawley Street, will now be available at the auto bureau locations in Niagara Falls and North Tonawanda.

Also, photos for passport and pistol permit applications can be taken for $8.

The Niagara Falls office in Haberle Plaza, 750 Portage Road, and the North Tonawanda location in the County Office Building, 500 Wheatfield St., will offer the services weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Courthouse hours for passport applications and photos are 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. weekdays.
