A BENEFIT for 9-year-old Gianna Cordero will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday in Knights of Columbus Hall, 1530 Kenmore Ave. Gianna, daughter of Jerry and Sherry Cordero, has cerebral palsy and is developmentally delayed.
Proceeds will help pay for eye surgery. She is losing her vision and needs hyperbaric oxygen therapy, not covered by insurance. Despite her limitations, Gianna is an ice skater and participates in swimming through Special Olympics. Donation is $20 at the door. A silent auction and raffle are scheduled. . . .
PASTA & PIE -- A community spaghetti dinner and bake sale will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Alden Presbyterian Church, 13298 Broadway, Alden. Dinners are $6 for adults, $3.50 for children 6 through 12, and kids 5 and younger eat free. Proceeds will be used for church improvements. . . .
A RETIREMENT party honoring Buffalo Police Detective Michael D. Lyons is set from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 19 in Bison City Rod and Gun Club, 511 Ohio St. Lyons served for many years in the Homicide Bureau and most recently in the Major Case Squad.
