A LOOK BACK AT JULY MAKES INCREDIBLE DRYNESS OFFICIAL

July proved to be a memorable weather month in Buffalo: It was the driest July in 68 years.

Most of the area had less than an inch of rain for the month. The total measured at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, 0.73 inches, was the least amount of rain in 68 years, and the third lowest amount in the more than 130 years of record-gathering.

Despite the lack of rain, July was cloudier than usual, with only 53 percent of the available sunshine being received.

A record low of 46 degrees was recorded on July 2, besting the previous record low for the date of 47 set in 1962. The 90-degree reading on July 23 marked the fourth 90-degree reading of the summer: Buffalo usually averages only three per summer.
