A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward and Caroline R. Kicinski, a long-married couple who died within hours of each other, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Catholic Church of the Holy Family, 1885 South Park Ave. Prayers will be said at 9 in Nightengale Funeral Home, 1884 South Park Ave. Burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, West Seneca.
The Kicinskis, of Buffalo, died Sunday (Sept. 23, 2001), within 16 hours of each other, in Mercy Hospital. He was 89 and had been in the hospital for three months. She was 86 and had been a patient in the hospital for 10 days.
Edward Kicinski worked for Ralston Purina Mills in Buffalo for more than 30 years, retiring several years ago.
Caroline Kicinski was a homemaker whose children described her as a dedicated mother who was always moving and doing household chores.
The Kicinskis had been married for 67 years and were very close throughout their marriage. Family members said that no matter where they went, they went together.
Both enjoyed bingo. Caroline Kicinski would play as much as twice a week, while her husband would often work bingo games at Holy Apostles SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at Clinton and Smith streets, where he was a member of the Athletic Club.
Survivors include two sons, John of Blasdell and Francis of Buffalo; a daughter, Patricia Staszczyk of Buffalo; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
