STOCKTON -- One person died when two vehicles collided late Monday afternoon in the Chautauqua County Town of Stockton, sheriff's deputies said.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on Barnes Road, deputies said.

Authorities said William C. Keech, 31, a passenger in a car driven by Melissa A. Rose, 25, was killed when their vehicle turned into the southbound lane of traffic while attempting to enter a driveway and was hit by another car.

Justin Horton, the driver of the other car, was taken to Erie County Medical Center with head injuries and his condition was not available late Monday. Rose and two passengers in Horton's car, Dustin Slavey, 16, and Bobby Sue Morse, 18, were treated at Brooks Memorial Hospital. All the accident victims were from Stockton.

Police said charges are pending.

Frewsburg man injured
in crash is in fair condition

A Frewsburg man remained hospitalized in fair condition Monday with injuries suffered in a weekend traffic accident, Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies reported.

Ronald W. Davis, 44, of Frewsburg-Kennedy Road, had been airlifted to Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa., after the Sunday morning accident in the Town of Carroll.

Deputies said Davis was driving on Ivory Road when he drifted off the side of the road and hit a concrete bridge. His vehicle went into a cornfield and overturned several times, trapping Davis inside.

Woman stabbed in back
trying to flee attacker

A Norwood Avenue woman was stabbed in the back while trying to pull herself away from an attacker who grabbed her from behind Sunday night while she was walking with a friend on Breckenridge Street, Northwest District police reported.

Jodi Keller, who suffered a puncture wound in the back, was listed in fair condition Monday in Erie County Medical Center.

She and a friend were walking west on Breckenridge when they were approached from behind at about 8:35 p.m. Northwest District police are looking for two black men, both about 20 years old and both wearing baggy jeans and dark shirts. One was described as about 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, while the other was about 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds.
