Bernice Lucas, 78, of Buffalo, a retired factory worker, died Friday (Sept. 21, 2001) in Niagara Lutheran Nursing Home after a brief illness.

Born Bernice Witherspoon in Manning, S.C., she began her working career during World War II as an assembler for Trico Products Corp. She retired from Trico in 1988.

She enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include a daughter, Lynne of Atlanta; a son, Robert Witherspoon of Seattle; three sisters, Lucille Goodwin, Julia Witherspoon and Susan Slaughter, all of Buffalo; and three grandsons.

Memorial services will be held at noon Wednesday in Thomas T. Edwards Funeral Home, 995 Genesee St.
