William J. Barile, 78, of Eggertsville, died unexpectedly Friday (Sept. 21, 2001) in Millard Fillmore Hospital.
A native of Pittson, Pa., he attended schools there. He was a member of the Army Air Forces in World War II.
After the war, he moved to Buffalo and went to work as a machine specialist at the General Motors plant on Delavan Avenue. He retired in 1986.
Barile was a member of Kenmore Council 3076, Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and going to Buffalo Bills games.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Angeline LaRocca; a daughter, Pauline Staebell of the Town of Tonawanda; two sons, John M. of Amherst and William J. Jr. of Buffalo; three sisters, Rose Czakowski, Carmela Fusani and Mary Sterner, all of Buffalo; and two grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 885 Sweet Home Road, Amherst. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
