POLICE SAY 2 WERE TOTING STOLEN CAR STEREO GEAR

Amherst police today reported the weekend arrest of two teenage boys they said were observed carrying stolen car stereo equipment as they walked on North Bailey Avenue early Saturday morning.

Lt. Patrick McKenna spotted the two teens on North Bailey at about 2:35 a.m. and apprehended Michael J. Wolf, 16, of Meadow Lea Drive, while Officer James Quigley collared a 15-year-old hiding in a North Bailey Avenue yard, according to police reports.

Wolf, accused of slipping out of his handcuffs and escaping, was arrested later at his home and charged with possession of stolen property, criminal mischief, possession of burglar's tools and escape, police said. The 15-year-old will be petitioned to Family Court.

Further investigation revealed that the two speakers and an amplifier were taken from a vehicle parked behind a paint and body shop on Sheridan Drive.
