George M. Snell of Barker, an employee at Southland Frozen Foods, died Friday (Sept. 21, 2001). He was 74.
A lifelong resident of Barker, Snell for many years operated a fruit farm with his father, Morris, in the Town of Somerset during the 1950s.
After selling the farm in the early 1960s, he went to work for Southland Frozen Foods in Barker, where he retired in 1986 as a purchasing agent.
Snell served in the Navy in World War II as a carpenter's mate. He was a former member of the Barker Lions Club and the Masons, a member of the American Legion and an exempt member of the Barker Fire Department.
Survivors include three sons, Gary of Corry, Pa., Paul of Garland, Pa., and Todd of Middleport; three daughters, Cheryl Davis of Glastonbury, Conn., and Michelle Hager and Jacqueline, both of Lockport; a sister, Shirley Kepner of Clarence; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, 1708 Pallister Ave. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
