Elizabeth A. Falter, a longtime employee of New York Telephone and later an executive at Illinois Bell, died Sept. 11, 2001, in Morton Grove, Ill., after a lengthy illness.

The former Elizabeth Caulfied, 74, grew up in the Town of Tonawanda and later worked at the telephone company before moving to Illinois. As an executive, she was active in several local charities.

She also was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Karl O. of Morton Grove; two daughters, Mary Ellen Aishton and Patricia Lynn Garrett, both of Niles, Ill.; a sister, Eileen Schulz of the Town of Tonawanda; and four grandchildren.

Services and burial were held in Illinois.
