Robert G. Jacobs Sr., 66, a retired truck driver, died Thursday (Sept. 20, 2001) in Lockport Memorial Hospital after a long illness, during which he received the care of Niagara Hospice.
Jacobs was born in Niagara Falls and lived in Cambria. He attended local schools.
He drove a truck for the former Lockport Felt Co., Newfane, for 19 years and then joined the Town of Cambria Highway Department, where he drove for 14 years before he retired in 1998.
Jacobs was a former member of the Cambria Volunteer Fire Company. He was an electric model train enthusiast and a supporter of NASCAR racing. He was a fan of the late Dale Earnhardt.
He grew vegetables in his garden and sold them at a roadside produce stand.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, the former Nancy Owens; two sons, Robert Jr. of Cambria and Michael J. of Wilson; two daughters, Deborah Colaizzi of Cambria and Jeanne of Newfane; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Hardison Funeral Home, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery.
