LaVearn H. Hardy, 80, of the Town of Tonawanda, a public works employee and World War II veteran, died Thursday (Sept. 20, 2001) in Hospice Buffalo.
A native of North Tonawanda, Hardy was a public works employee for the Town of Tonawanda until his retirement in 1982.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Hardy also served as a lieutenant colonel with the New York State National Guard. He was a member of Tonawanda Post 264, American Legion, and the Parish United Masonic Lodge 292, F&AM.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Ruth L. Follendorf; a daughter, Dorann Stetter of North Tonawanda; a sister, Dorothy of Florida; a brother, Richard of the Town of Tonawanda; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Saber Funeral Home, 549 Oliver St., North Tonawanda. Interment with full military honors will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
