A memorial service for Laura Altmann will be held at 11:30 a.m. today in Ascension Chapel, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
Mrs. Altmann, 91, died Sept. 8 in Las Vegas, where she had lived for more than 30 years. Born in Punxsutawney, Pa., the former Laura Tornesella moved at an early age to Buffalo, where she worked at the Larkin Co., Kobacker's department store and a flower shop. She later attended Traphagen School of Design in New York City.
After marrying Kenneth Altmann of Arcade, she lived in Texas, Arizona and Colorado before settling in Nevada.
Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Heginbottom of Las Vegas; a brother, Theodore of San Diego; four sisters, Rose Tornesella of the Town of Tonawanda, Lucy Battaglia of Williamsville, Yolanda Montanari of Kenmore and Mary Spina of Massillon, Ohio; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
