New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is a political "lame duck" -- his term in office expires soon. But there has been nothing lame about Giuliani's inspiring leadership since the Big Apple was so heinously assaulted recently.
Despite the massive loss of life, including several top Fire Department officials who were his close friends, the mayor has been front and center, projecting calm determination in the face of inhuman brutality. Giuliani also has offered a splendid prediction that reflects the indomitable spirit of the magnificent city that he has so ably personified recently: "We're not only going to rebuild, we're going to come out stronger than we were before, and in addition to having wonderful people in the city . . . we also have the strongest business community of anywhere in the world, and we're going to call on them."
Surely the mayor and those millions of other plucky New Yorkers also can call on the rest of this admiring nation for the help they will need in the months and years ahead.
Think mass murder by terrorist monsters can keep New York down? Fuggitaboutit!
