Six manufacturing companies in the region have received grants worth a combined $130,000 to help create and retain jobs.

Buffalo Color Corp., Val-Kro, OhmCraft, Renold, An-Cor Industrial and American Allsafe each received funds from the Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence. SPIR is based in the University at Buffalo's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

The recipient of the single largest grant, Buffalo Color, was awarded nearly $20,000 for a project to more effectively recover and re-use plant waste.

SPIR grants cover up to 50 percent of a project's cost for hiring faculty members, students and other technically trained personnel and fees for using sophisticated research facilities, such as those available at UB.
