A free informational outreach session for veterans of the United States military services will be held by Legislator Barry Weinstein on Oct. 2.
The session will be held at 7 p.m. in Amherst Town Hall, 5583 Main St., said Weinstein, R-Williamsville.
"I welcome all Amherst veterans and their family members to attend the free information meeting," said Weinstein. "I am pleased to provide a program which answers veterans' questions about the benefits and services available to them."
Topics will include disability benefits, education benefits, vocational rehabilitation, home loans, burial benefits, dependents' and survivors' benefits, health care, life insurance, and a variety of counseling services. Interested residents are asked to call 633-0617 to register, as seating for the session is limited.
Opportunities Unlimited sets meeting
NORTH TONAWANDA -- Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara will hold an informational meeting regarding construction of a new home the agency is planning to build from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today in the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive.
Opportunities Unlimited, the fourth-largest provider of residential services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Western New York, will discuss plans for construction of a home for individuals with disabilities at 1477 Doebler Drive.
The meeting is open to the public.
Opportunities Unlimited is a United Way agency that works with mentally retarded or intellectually, physically or functionally limited individuals to ensure they have the opportunity to reach their maximum potential, independence and integration into the community.
