Nellie M. Valenti, 80, who worked as a licensed practical nurse for 40 years at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, died Sunday (Sept. 16, 2001) in that hospital following a brief illness.
Born Nellie Valenti, she was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and graduated from the former Trott Vocational Practical Nursing Group.
She married Patrick C. Valenti in 1943. He died in 1984.
Mrs. Valenti retired from nursing in the 1990s.
She collected musical dolls and was a charter member of Cataract Lodge 240, Italian Sons and Daughters of America; the Cristoforo Columbo Society; and St. Joseph's Senior Society. She was also a member of the St. Joseph's Ladies of Charity, serving as captain for the organization's 2000 Club.
Survivors include two sisters, Grace Fiore of Niagara Falls and Janet "Babe" Valenti of Amherst; a brother, Peter A. Valenti of the Town of Niagara; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Church, 1413 Pine Ave., after prayers at 10 in M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
