John Roland Goosby, 68, a retired steelworker, died Thursday (Sept. 13, 2001) in his Buffalo home after a brief illness.
Born in Abbeville, S.C., he went to school in Greenville, S.C., and worked for Bethlehem Steel Corp. as a shield man for 33 years before he retired in 1985.
He was a Mason and a member of Thankful Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Mario S., Ronnie J. and Leslie J., all of Buffalo; two daughters, Yolanda D. and Carol A. Williams, both of Buffalo; six brothers, H. Patrick of Abbeville and Isaiah, Harold, Sammie, Lee and Ellis, all of Columbia, S.C.; three sisters, Christine Sarrior, Love Lee Scott and Dorethea Hughey, all of Columbia; two former wives, Mary Jane Arter and Pam, both of Buffalo; a longtime companion, Jeanette Parker of Buffalo; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Thomas J. Edwards Funeral Home, 995 Genesee St.
