I am writing because I am disgusted with the coverage of college sports, specifically local football. Every year, the local media cover University at Buffalo football to no end. Recently, there were eight articles in The News regarding UB football. There was only one regarding Buffalo State football, and that was the team's season schedule.
I realize UB is now Division I, however, Buffalo State has a program that has been ranked in the top 25 in the nation for the past several years. Each season, the team consistently proves that it is a national football power. I am aware that Buffalo State is a Division III team, but that should not take away from its national ranking. I would wager that Buffalo State football has accomplished more in the past 10 years than UB football will ever accomplish.
I think it is journalistically irresponsible to focus most of one's attention on a losing program at the expense of overlooking and neglecting a consistent and proven successful program.
