Amherst

Town Board members will hold a work session at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Town Hall, 583 Main St., Williamsville, to discuss complaints about excessive noise and other problems at the Shady Hill Kennels, 148 Muegel Road.

The Amherst Central School Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the district office conference room at Amherst Middle School, 55 Kings Highway.
The Industrial Development Agency will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday at 130 John Muir Drive.

Buffalo

At its meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Common Council will consider providing regular pay to city employees who go to New York City to help in recovery efforts from last week's attack on the World Trade Center.

Council Majority Leader Rosemarie LoTempio said she drafted the proposal because some volunteers feared they might have to use sick days, vacations or compensatory time if they agree to assist in the massive effort.

The measure would cover only employees with skills specifically requested by officials in New York City; workers who travel on their own would not receive city compensation.

The agenda for the meeting, in the Council Chambers on the 13th floor of City Hall, includes more than 150 other items.

The Town Board will consider strengthening penalties for owners of properties with overgrown lawns.

It also is scheduled to vote on a special use permit for a replacement cell tower at 500 Como Park Blvd.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Monday in Town Hall, Union Road at Broadway.

The Village Board will meet at 8 p.m. Monday in Village Hall, 100 Main St. A work session with department heads will begin at 6.

The School Board will hold a work session at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school-middle school. That meeting will be preceded at 6 by a briefing on the status of the new elementary school.
The School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the high school-middle school. Bids on a $13 million elementary school were tabled at a previous meeting.

Lancaster

The Town Board will hold a work session at 7 p.m. Monday, followed by a meeting at 8, in Town Hall, 21 Central Ave.

The Town of Lancaster Environmental Review Committee, which consists of the Town and Planning boards, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday to review site plan applications for Advantage Trucks and Kunvarji Hotels.

Orchard Park

The School Board is expected to hear an update from its facilities committee on the proposed $90 million high school complex when it meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the district offices, 3330 Baker Road. A contract for architectural services also is on the agenda.

Also this week:
The Town Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Wednesday on a proposal governing cellular towers and accessory structures. The proposed amendment to the town's Zoning Ordinance was drafted to apply appropriate land use principles to locating towers and similar facilities.

The village, meanwhile, has imposed a six-month moratorium on cellular tower and is working on its own ordinance.

The hearing will be part of the board's regular meeting in the board room of the Orchard Park Municipal Center, S-4295 S. Buffalo St. A work session at 5:30 will precede the meeting.

Springville

Officers from the newly formed Springville Police Department will be sworn in at a public ceremony at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Springville Fire Hall.

The department began patrolling the village Sept. 1.

City of Tonawanda

The Common Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall, 200 Niagara St.

West Seneca

Residents will get a second chance to comment on a proposed property maintenance ordinance when the West Seneca Town Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Town Hall, 1250 Union Road.

The ordinance, which would include strengthening requirements for residents and businesses to clear snow from sidewalks, was tabled at the Aug. 20 meeting.
