DEPEW SCHOOL CHIEF HIRED
TO LEAD BOCES DISTRICT

The Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES Board of Education has hired Robert D. Olczak, currently superintendent of the Depew Union Free School District, as its new district superintendent and chief executive officer.

BOCES Board President Heinke Lillenstein said, "We are looking forward to Dr. Olczak joining our team Aug. 6. He brings a wealth of experience and a great enthusiasm for the position."

Olczak replaces John Grant, who retired after serving five years in the post.

Olczak was superintendent of Starpoint Central School District from 1995 to 1998 and at Westfield Academy and Central School from 1983 to 1995.

He was also principal of AA Gates Elementary School in Port Byron from 1978 to 1983, where he started as a junior/senior high school social studies teacher in 1971.

He also served as the assistant director of occupational education at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES in Auburn.

Olczak has a doctorate in educational administration from the University at Buffalo. He received a certificate in administration and supervision from Cortland State College, his master's degree in social studies from Colgate University and his bachelor's degree in history and political science from Brockport State College.

Olczak is an adjunct faculty member at Canisius College in the Department of Teacher Education.
