Shirley A. Pike of Amherst, a retired school audiovisual supervisor, died Thursday (June 28, 2001) in Erie County Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 63.
Born Shirley Spies in Buffalo, she was a graduate of East High School. She worked at the state Department of Motor Vehicles office as a stenographer from 1956 to 1960, then was senior clerk until 1963.
In 1963, she married Eugene L. Pike.
She was a homemaker until she returned to work as a teacher's aide in 1982. She became supervisor of the audiovisual room at Heim Middle School in the Williamsville School District in 1985, retiring last year.
Mrs. Pike was a member of New York State United Teachers.
She enjoyed bowling, playing golf and making crafts. She also had an affection for pets.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Barbara R. of Mount Laurel, N.J., and a son, Stephen R. of Rochester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 100 St. Gregory Court, Amherst. Prayers will be said at 8:45 in Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Amherst.
Burial will be in United German and French Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
