The Texas governor's teenage daughter should have a memorable birthday in August: Actor Russell Crowe is set to entertain guests with his rock band, 30 Odd Foot of Grunts.
The Academy Award-winning star of "Gladiator" spoke with Gov. Rick Perry, first lady Anita and their two children, Griffin and Sydney, over dinner earlier this year, saying he wanted his band to play a benefit at an Austin nightspot, The Dallas Morning News reports.
Crowe suggested he and his band play the benefit for Sydney's 15th birthday party and donate the proceeds to a charity of her choice. Sydney chose Settlement House, an Austin program that helps troubled teenage girls.
The event, tentatively scheduled for Aug. 18 at Stubb's BBQ in Austin, will kick off a U.S. tour by Crowe's band.
Crowe got to know Perry last year while 30 Odd Foot of Grunts was recording an album in Austin.
