John P. DeTolla, 81, a retired steel company supervisor, died Sunday (June 24, 2001) in Brooks Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Dunkirk, he attended Fredonia schools and was a graduate of Alfred University. He served in the Army medical corps in the Pacific during World War II.
He worked for the state unemployment office in Dunkirk for several years, then went to Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., where he was a supervisor and a foreman. He retired in 1983.
He and his wife, the former Sara Lombardo, were married in 1960.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, John of Buffalo; a brother, James of Silver Creek; and two sisters, Catherine Granto of Fredonia and Jeanette Joy of Jamestown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Trinity Church, 1032 Central Ave.
