DELBERT W. LYONS, ATTICA RESTAURATEUR

A memorial service for Delbert W. "Bub" Lyons, 74, of Attica, owner and operator of the Tipperary Restaurant in Attica from 1971 until 1986, will be held at 11 a.m. today in Johnsonburg United Methodist Church, Route 98 between North Java and Varysburg. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica.

Lyons, who was born in Alexander, died Monday (June 25, 2001) in the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia after a long illness.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Alexander and the American Legion post in Attica. He worked at Laird Brothers Dry Cleaners in Varysburg for 21 years before becoming owner of the restaurant. Later, he was a park attendant for five years at Attica Village Park.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Roslyn Victor; three daughters, Linda Baetzold of Johnsonburg, Pamela Noyes of Oswego and Kathy Smith; a son, Stanley of Bennington; three sisters, Reta Durfee of Varysburg, Lorraine Balduf of Alexander and Patricia Lyons of Florida; three brothers, Larry of Fort Myers, Fla., Clifford and Kenneth; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
