PIE-IN-THE-SKY PLAN IS UNLIKELYH TO PAN OUT

As a lifelong resident of the City of Buffalo, let me be the first to raise a red flag concerning Houston real estate investor Scott Wizig. He is purchasing dilapidated properties with the intent to rehabilitate them and get them back on the tax rolls.

While his plans sound fantastic, I doubt very much that any of this will really happen. Already there are complaints regarding some of his properties. It is hard enough to get slumlords from the local suburbs to take responsibility for the destruction of Buffalo's neighborhoods, let alone a resident of Texas.

I'm sure the city will hand over tens of thousands of dollars in grant money to this man and then pray for the best. We, as Buffalonians, deserve better than this.

We are constantly an easy target of snake oil salesmen who promise the world and then never deliver. After they milk the city dry, they leave under the cover of night, never to be heard from again. In case anyone has forgotten what happens when these grandiose plans fail, walk by the Empire Brewing Co. and remember how much that cost us.
