In regard to Lauri Githens' commentary on Bruce Wilkinson's wonderful book "The Prayer of Jabez," may I say how unfortunate it is that a newspaper writer would totally misrepresent a book that she obviously did not read in its entirety. As a Baptist minister, I am very much against the "health and wealth" gospel that some charlatans do teach today. However, Wilkinson's book absolutely does not fall into that category.
He teaches the reader biblical principles that will further God's kingdom, not man's kingdom. Wilkinson clearly states that we are to pray for the blessings that God wants to give us, and not the selfish desires of man. He also teaches that to have one's territory enlarged is to be given more opportunities to share the good news about Jesus Christ and to help other people.
