Leokadja Sekula Kasinski, mother of the Rev. James J. Kasinski, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Niagara Falls, died Friday (June 22, 2001) in St. Mary's Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was 87.
Born in Ontario, Mrs. Kasinski moved to South Buffalo from Poland as a child, and lived there most of her life before settling in Niagara Falls with her son.
During World War II, Mrs. Kasinski worked as a production inspector at ACF Foundries, a munitions factory in South Buffalo. She was a longtime member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in South Buffalo.
Her husband of 56 years, Walter, died in 1991.
In addition to her son, survivors include two other sons, William of West Seneca and Gerald of Redlands, Calif.; a daughter, Madeline Harris of Riverside, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Church, South Avenue at 11th Street. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
