Charlotte Barber, who worked as a secretary for a Wall Street stockbroker, died Friday (June 22, 2001) in Lockport Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 91.
Born in Rhode Island, the former Charlotte Malley attended school in New York City and lived on Governors Island for 20 years before moving to Niagara Falls. She lived in Niagara Falls for 57 years before moving to Lockport.
A secretary for the Wall Street brokerage firm of Pearl & Co., Mrs. Barber worked during the stock market crash of 1929.
She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. Her husband, Delano, died in 1990.
She is survived by two daughters, Joanne Whitbeck of Springfield, Va., and Gail Bax of Palo Alto, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Town of Niagara. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Falmouth, Mass.
