Joe Augello, owner of the Campagna Euro Grille, 166 Franklin St., is mighty pleased about his new sous chef. He is Kevin O'Connell Jr., and that's not an unknown name in Western New York. "Kevin is outstanding," Augello says, citing O'Connell's experience cooking at the Dakota Grill and the Left Bank. The new chef has also appeared four times on AM Buffalo. O'Connell is working alongside Campagna Executive Chef Dan Flanagan at both lunch and dinner these days, and that makes his boss very happy.

Next week is a biggie for Niagara Falls - Jill Cordes and Marc Silverstein are coming to town for the Food Network. The pair cover the nation in search of the best food, restaurants and trends in America for a show called "The Best Of." On Monday, they'll be at Schimschack's in Sanborn to discuss "Date Plates." Later in the week they'll visit the Twist O' the Mist for "Family Adventure" and the Top of the Falls on Goat Island for "Water Views" (now there's an understatement). They will also show up at the Fyfe and Drum Restaurant in Youngstown for "Places to Take Dad" and the Como Restaurant on Pine Street covering the topic of "Pasta." The segments should show up on TV in about four or five months.
Tea for two
There's a new tea menu just introduced at the Asa Ransom House, 10529 Main St., Clarence, says innkeeper Abigail Lenz. The handsomely printed menu card lists two types of tea service. Traditional Tea includes a choice of 13 different teas plus a selection of finger sandwiches with fruit garnish, fruit scones with jam and Devonshire cream and cakes and pastries for $12.95, while the Tea Royal includes all of the above plus a flute of Kir Royal (Champagne with Chambord liqueur) or Chateau Frank Sparkling Wine for $5 more. This most civilized meal is served every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m., and if you're very lucky you get to sit on the marvelous front porch while you sip.
