May Elizabeth Colby, 80, of Cheektowaga, a homemaker and retired bakery worker, died unexpectedly Wednesday (June 20, 2001) in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga.
Born in Machias, the former May Golden attended Olean High School and worked for 14 years for Stroehmann Bakeries in Olean, retiring in 1971 when she moved to the Buffalo area.
She was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
She and her husband, Hubert "Skip," head of the training department for S.M. Flickinger Co., were married in 1938.
She greatly enjoyed traveling. For the past 15 years, she and her husband organized, arranged and led group tours throughout the world.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Marcia Frost of Akron and Beverly of Cheektowaga; three sons, Donald of Chapel Hill, N.C., Richard of Denton, Texas, and Gary of Olean; a sister, Maxine DiMaria of Jessup, Md.; a brother, Harold Golden of Spring Hill, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 1025 Borden Road, Depew. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, West Seneca.
