FREDERICK M. FRANTZ, OWNED FUNERAL HOME

A memorial service for Frederick M. Frantz, 84, of Alden, a former funeral home operator and stock broker, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lancaster Presbyterian Church, Broadway and Lake Avenue.

Frantz, a native of Hornell, died Sunday (June 17, 2001) at home after a short illness.

He moved to Alden to work for his uncle, A.E. Frantz, in Frantz and Meyer Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Alden. From 1957 to 1963, he owned and operated Frantz Funeral Home on Broadway in Lancaster.

Frantz then became a stockbroker at Trubee Collins & Co., Buffalo, retiring in 1990.

He was a member and past exalted ruler of Lodge 1478, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, in Lancaster, and belonged to Alden Lodge 594, F&AM. He was a member of Post 1377, American Legion, in Alden, and Lancaster Presbyterian Church.

Frantz served in the Army during World War II.

His wife, the former Ruth Gillmore, died in 1999.

Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Munn of Alden, Jean Curlee of Poughkeepsie and Judy Hogan of Ithaca; a sister, Josephine Hotchkiss of Clifton Springs; a brother, Dr. Francis "Babe" of Warsaw; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
