Erma Porter, a longtime senior citizen companion and home aide, died Thursday (June 14, 2001) in her daughter's Buffalo home after a brief illness. She was 73.
Born Erma Andrews in Phoenix, she had lived in Buffalo since 1947.
She was an active member of the New Mount Ararat Temple of Prayer and a former recipient of the mayor's award for outstanding work as a senior citizen companion.
She is survived by her husband, Harrel; four daughters, Barbara Pritchett, Lorraine Stevenson, Sara Jackson and Valerie Bigham; and two sons, Lloyd and Lee, all of Buffalo; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Wednesday in New Mount Ararat Temple of Prayer, 971 Jefferson Ave. Burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, West Seneca.
