Lancaster's Aurora Middle School will hold mandatory registration for pupils entering the seventh and eighth grades from district parochial schools and those pupils new to the district for the 2001-2002 school year.

Aurora counselors will be available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Tuesday to consult with parents of new seventh- and eighth-graders

A birth certificate, current immunization record, a recent report card and two proofs of residency are required at the time of registration.

Sixth-grade pupils presently attending the William Street School are not required to register.

3-D fireworks glasses to go on sale

The Lancaster Fire Safety Education program will sell three-dimensional fireworks glasses in conjunction with the Village of Lancaster Fourth of July celebration. All proceeds go to the program.

The glasses, which enhance the viewing of fireworks and laser light shows by giving the colors and lights a prism effect, will be sold for $1 per pair. Prior to the July Fourth celebration, the glasses will be available at the village clerk-treasurer's office, Pete Sweet's Citgo at 5341 Broadway and Convenient Food Mart at 3470 Walden Ave. They also will be sold at the fire safety booth during the day on the Fourth.

New North Forest bridge opens Friday

The new bridge on North Forest Road in Amherst will open for traffic on Friday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon, Erie County Legislator Barry A. Weinstein has announced.

Weinstein said North Forest from Sheridan to Maple has received an overlay of fresh pavement in addition to the reconstruction of the bridge.

Elma Library goes on summer hours

The Elma Public Library has gone on its summer schedule. Hours are: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 1 to 9 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This schedule is in effect through September.
