CASSADAGA -- A 19-year-old Jamestown man whose vehicle broke down early Sunday on South Stockton Road was charged with driving while intoxicated after two Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies stopped to help him.
Adam C. Paxton was traveling on the road when his vehicle apparently gave out, sheriff's department officials said Sunday.
Deputies Michael E. Seeley and James B. Quattrone, who came upon Paxton and his vehicle at the side of the road about 3 a.m., also charged him with aggravated unlicensed operation and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
He was released following an appearance in Stockton Town Court.
Women chaged with welfare fraud, food stamp misuse
KILL BUCK -- A resident of Hoag's Trailer Park faces charges of third-degree welfare fraud, third-degree grand larceny, filing a false instrument and misuse of food stamps.
Mary G. Boudrieau Strapp, 50, was charged Friday. Lt. E.R. Travis of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department said the woman collected $6,219 between December 1998 and November 1999 without reporting that her marital status had changed.
She is to answer to the charges June 28 in Olean City Court.
Fredonia man added to Wanted Persons list
MAYVILLE -- A Fredonia man has been added to the Chautauqua County Wanted Persons List this week.
Sheriff's officers said Clifford H. Cobb Jr., 56, of East Main Street, is sought on a Family Court support warrant. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the sheriff's department.
