Isn't it ironic that the Tonawanda City Council chose not to decide on the fate of its water department and is instead trying to "hold down the fort until the last possible minute"? For the most part, this is the same council that chose not to decide on complying with state officials on closing the Wales Avenue dump site, which cost the city millions. Over the years, the council has let our city's infrastructure crumble before our very eyes.
Poor decisions have left remaining residents wondering what life could have been like if we had any true leaders, as well as literally paying for their mistakes with our hard-earned dollars. We have paid our dues and received nothing but a large helping of empty promises and memories of a once-thriving community that didn't know enough to change with the times.
Let's stop the bleeding and wake up to the realization that this is the 21st century. Run this city like a business and keep the personal agendas out of city government.
