Services for Dr. Sawyer A. Glidden, 81, a Batavia radiologist, were held today in First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery.
Glidden died Sunday (Feb. 25, 2001) in the State Veterans Nursing Home after a brief illness.
A graduate of the University of Rochester Medical School, he interned at St. Louis City Hospital and performed his residency at Temple University.
Glidden practiced in Batavia for 30 years, retiring in 1983.
His service included work as chief of radiology at both St. Jerome and Genesee Memorial hospitals, chief of staff at Genesee memorial, president of both the Buffalo and Rochester radiology societies and a member of the board of directors of New York State Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; three sons, John of East Bethany, James of Batavia and Charles of Fayetteville, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
