As a teacher, I believe strongly in the philosophy that "all adults share in the responsibility for all children." I am appalled to learn that bureaucrats in Albany are trying to save money at the expense of sick children. I refer to the proposal to move mentally ill children now housed in the Children's Psychiatric Center in West Seneca -- where they have lots of space and a safe place to receive much-needed treatment -- to the grounds of the Buffalo Psychiatric Center.
Forty percent of the center's current population have committed violent acts. Do we want our most vulnerable children to be housed at this site? This is just another example of self-serving politicians looking to save money. We must contact our state legislators and tell them that the City of Good Neighbors will not tolerate such ignorance.
