Frances E. Moose, 79, a retired nurse, died Sunday (Feb. 25, 2001) in her Ransomville home after a brief illness. She was under the care of Niagara Hospice.
She was born Frances Schaffert in Lockport, where she graduated from St. Joseph's Academy. She earned a nursing degree at Mount St. Mary's Nursing Academy in Niagara Falls.
Mrs. Moose worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, then in Niagara Falls, for three years. She then took a job at Ransomville General Hospital, where she worked for more than 20 years. Her final job was in a physician's private offices in Ransomville and Lewiston, and she retired in 1979.
She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Caritas Society for senior citizens. She enjoyed gardening, bingo playing and crocheting.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Raymond J. "Bud"; three daughters, Judy Myers of Wilson, Joanne Jablonski of Ransomville and Jane Harder of Chapin, S.C.; a brother, Fabian Schaffert of Lockport; two sisters, Dorothy Schuster and Mary Bell, both of Fort Pierce, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Church, 4671 Townline Road.
