Busy intersections throughout Western New York will be even busier Tuesday morning as colorfully clad volunteers come out in force to sell the annual Kids Day edition of The Buffalo News to benefit Kaleida Health's Children's Hospital and other programs.

More than 6,000 volunteers will be stationed at more than 1,500 corner locations throughout the region. They will be wearing multicolored hats and fluorescent orange and white aprons.

The Kids Day edition, which contains stories about children who have benefited from the hospital's treatment, sells for one dollar. All of the proceeds go to the Variety Club Telethon, which airs this weekend on WKBW-TV, Channel 7.

Last year the edition raised $156,000.
