If that's your dream, it could come true at the Buffalo Sabres' Golf Gala 2001 on March 10 from 6 p.m. to midnight in HSBC Arena.
The creative black tie event, presented by Independent Health Foundation with all Buffalo Sabres as honorary chairmen, will start with registration and an auction of current Sabres and alumni to join each golf foursome.
Play is limited to 72 teams. Sabres' wives will assist as goodwill ambassadors.
The arena will be transformed into a regulation Professional Golf Association golf course and a pavilion clubhouse, where sports-related memorabilia will be among the offerings at silent and Chinese auctions. There also will be food stations for a gourmet buffet and music by Them Jazzbeards.
Six golf pros, representing the PGA and LPGA, will give golfing tips and critique techniques. Videos will be made to compare your golf swing with Tiger Woods'. New golf equipment will be available for testing. Everyone is eligible to participate in the $10,000 hole-in-one contest and the longest drive contest.
Prizes will be awarded when the tournament ends at 10 and the live auction begins.
Among the features will be a trip for two to the NHL All-Star Game in Los Angeles, including air fare; a golf weekend for two at Myrtle Beach, S.C., including air fare, and a trip for two anywhere in the United States. Nik Lite will play for dancing.
Proceeds will benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute Colon Cancer Research/Outreach Initiative, Cornerstone Manor, the Buffalo City Mission's shelter for women and children in crisis, and HealthCheck Head Trauma Awareness Program.
Corporate sponsors are SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, Sherwood Business Solutions, Schering-Plough, AstraZeneca, Pharmacia, Glaxo Wellcome and Xerox.
Donation for each foursome and party tickets is $750, and donation for each foursome, party tickets and corporate hole sponsorship is $1,500.
A donation of $1,000 will provide a group of 10 with party tickets at a reserved cocktail table and corporate hole sponsorship. Reservations are being taken at 855-4429.
